Jeffrey M. Bucher
Jeff, who is Of Counsel to the Firm, represents financial institution clients in
the areas of supervision and regulation of trust companies, banks, and thrift institutions. His
experience includes a wide variety of fiduciary representations relating
to wills, trusts, foundations and corporate trusteeships. Other areas of expertise relating to financial institutions
involve formations, mergers and acquisitions and changes of control
applications. Jeff is also the Firm's Pro Bono Director.
Jeff currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of MCG Capital Corporation (NASDAQ "MCGC") where he is a member of MCG's Audit, Investment, Valuation and Nominating and Corporate Governance Committees. He is also a Director of Mizuho Corporate Bank of California where he is a member of the Bank's Audit Committee. In addition, Jeff is Co-Director of The Vasek and Anna Maria Polak Charitable Foundation, Inc., a California nonprofit health care foundation.
He was appointed by the President and
confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as a Member of the Board of
Governors of the Federal Reserve System in 1972. As a Federal Reserve Governor, Jeff’s activities included
overseeing the Federal Reserve’s responsibilities as supervisor and
regulator of bank holding companies. He testified on numerous occasions before the House and Senate
Committees of Congress and chaired/served on a number of Federal Reserve
Board Committees involved with the supervision and regulation of banks
and bank holding companies. He chaired the Committee with responsibility for the Federal
Reserve System Employee Benefit Trust Programs.
In addition to his membership in legal
professional associations, Mr. Bucher was an adjunct banking law
professor at George Mason University School of Law, Arlington, VA; a
lecturer at the American Institute for Political and Economic Studies,
Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic; on the Advisory Board of the
Fund for American Studies, Georgetown University, Washington, D.C.; a
lecturer at the Bank Administration Institute; Member, FDIC Advisory
Committee on State and Federal Regulation of Commercial Banks and a
member, Board of Visitors, Stanford Law School.
Mr. Bucher received his J.D. degree from
Stanford University School of Law. He received his B.A. degree from Occidental College.
